    Commander of Pz. Rgt.21

    Hi,
Please help me! I wound like to know that person who was the commander of Panzer Regiment 21 in January in 1943. I know that he belonged to 20.Panzer Division. Unfortunately I have found the name of the regiment commander nowhere on the Net. I am waiting for your answer.
    Thanks,
    George

    Hi

I believe 21 Panzer Regiment, some time in 1942 was Redesignated along with other units into 21 Panzer Battalion. Maybe that's why you have Drawn a blank with your Research so far?

26.4.1943 the Regiment was disbanded. The Stab formed Stab/Panzer Brigade Stab 21 on 25.6.1943. The Stab of III. Abteilung formed a Company of Panzer Abteilung 21.

I have an Oberst Badura as Kommandeur of Pz.Rgt. 21 from 25.10.1942. Unfortunately I can not find anything else on him!

No, it was 1943. And it was reformed into a Panzer-Abteilung, not Bataillon.

Lexicon.de has only one name, a Oberstleutnant Schmidt, listed as the Regimental Commander, and Hauptmann Wolfgang Darius as Abteilung commander of Panzer-Abteilung 21 in 1943.

        Hope this helps.....

EDIT: That second link isn't working correctly, but if you click on the hyperlink "Panzer-Abteilung 21" it will take you to the second page I was trying to post, which contains info on Panzer-Abteilung 21.

Thanks for that info, Ian. It's amazing the lexicon page has that much info (I wish all their pages on Panzer unit histories contained this much information at regimental and abteilung levels!) yet they do not have the info on von Hake!

mit der Führung beauftragt which means he was temporarily in command.

Badura, no, as mentioned I can not anything else on him.....at the moment at least.

One thing I have just found, as a Major he was Kdr. of Panzerabwehr Abteilung 36 which was part of 36 Infanterie Division, this was prewar however.

No I already checked that...also went through Badura's on the German War Graves site of which there were 112 if I remember correctly and not really matched.
Only one as mentioned was the prewar list from 1939!

It appears that in January 1943, Major Kahl (Eichenlaubträger) was in command of 21er. He was succeeded in February by Hptm. Merx ("kein Panzermann" says the Regimentsgeschichte S.133).

As of August 1942, Hptm. Kahl lead the Abteilung (S.112).

                            Hi,
The starting point was that I have an award document of PAB in silver. It is for Obergefreiter Josef Jodl who served in 2/Panzer-Regiment 21 . The time of the donation was 14.01.1943. It was signed by an Oberst u. Rgts.Kdr.
This person may be Badur by Ian's information. Is it sure?
I had no idea that the identification of a commander of a Panzer Regiment was so difficult.
I am waiting for any kind of help of everybady.
                            Thanks,
                            George
