601. Schnelle Abteilung

Hello,
I'm looking for information about the 601. Schnelle Abteilung. This unit is mentioned in US after action report about the battle of the Vosges Moutains in late Septmber 1944, but I can't find anything about it... was it a "scratch" unit? Why is it "Schnell"?

Interesting a quick search for Schnell and Aufklärungs units numbered 601 has shown nothing....I will have another dig around...could it be a typo?!

Could it be 602?

I had found info about Abt. 602 and 608 but found nothing about the 601 and thought it might exist...
but maybe a typo, you're right, because 602/608 fought in the area where the 601 is mentioned by US report.
If anybody has the proof the 601 never existed, it would close the question!

Probably could be a mistake in trascription of the number 601.
I also looked for info but i found nothing about this unit.
