Feldpost # "M 15639 Koch"

Found written in pencil on the leather liner of a single decal M40 Navy helmet that literally came out of the woodwork, it was found stuck in the rafters of an old house in Huntington, WV about two years ago. The house itself had been closed up for years. M 15639 with what appears to be last name Koch. Thank you in advance for your help, I appreciate it!

Thank you immensly for the quick response. It appears that whoever was wearing the helmet (if it was Koch) suffered a combat injury, a little research project that I have been putting off until now. Will see where this leads me, thank you!
