Hello everyone, I am a new member and this is my very first post.
I just returned from Ukraine after visiting war museums.
I know there are experts out there who can answer this question:
Scenario: A Soviet fighter pilot is shot down and captured in Ukraine.
Woud he have been forwarded to a prison camp run by the Luftwaffe as most American and British airmen were, or simply tossed into the nearest POW camp? I know Soviet POWs were treated harshly.
And lastly, would there be a record or dossier on such a POW? I've seen the History Channel and even today, there are accessible records on anti-Nazi dissidents and Jews in the archives there. I just need to know where I should be looking for a dossier on a captured Soviet airman.
Thank you very much!
