Hey everyone, never had to research a soldier and have no idea really on how to do it. So looking for some points and places to look up info. IM looking info on the unit: 4.Gren.Rgt.(mot)35 and any thing related to soldier Heinrich Karl Vo(has 2 dots above the o)lkel or Volkel. I have his ek1, ek2, ostmedaille, bwb document as well as his clearance certificate and temp. registration to Dusseldorf, and what i assume is a pass with a field post number 08675E (its dated Aug 23,24 1942 and the paper has a ton of writing on it that i can't read and a bunch of stamps. Any and all help would be greatly apprciated or at least a turn in the right direction. Thanks for any and all help. Matt

Matt,
I may be off and I am not perfect at this see:
http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...enter/IR35.htm
and
http://www.axishistory.com/index.php?id=1013
General der Infanterie Heinrich Clößner (15 Nov 1940 - 15 Jan 1942) This name looks like the signature on the EK 2 doc
General der Infanterie Anton Graßer (4 Feb 1942 - 23 July 1943) This name looks like the signature on the EK 1 doc
The dates also match for when these guys would be in command. I couldn't find the feldpost nummer.
Best regards,
Todd

Hello Matt,
just to be a 100% sure: The FPN 08765 E beloged to the 4. Kompanie of the Infanterie-Regiment 35. The pass is called "Kriegsurlaubsschein" and it's a kind of "war-holiday-license". Maybe I'm wrong now but as far as I know most of the Inf. Rgt. were renamed on the 15.10.42 in Gren. Rgt. In this case the Inf. Rgt. 35 was renamed on the 25.10.42 in Gren. Rgt. 35, so I was wondering why stood on the third document, wich was issued on the 12. August 1942, 4./ Grenadier Regiment (mot) 35 Shouldn't it be then Infanterie? I explain it like this: The soldier got the Medaille Winterschlacht im Osten on the 12.08.42, but the document he got later, after the 25.10.42, and by the issuance he told the 12.08.42 as the date of the conference and as unit they took the 4./ Gren. Rgt. 35 (mot.), because then it was their unit.
Best regards from Germany,
Siegbert
