A litte more and a correction to the above.

In 1939 he was Hptm. and adjutant to ausbildungsleiter Insterburg, under the I Armeekorps and Landwehr Kdr. Insterburg. His seniority date for hptm. was 1.2.34.

The info above comes from the '44 rangliste, the unit or position held noted in that book indicates where they were posted at the outbreak of war.

I have him (first name : Heinrich) from August 1941 in the Panzergruppe Afrika.
Do You know in which position and until when ? Was he still in Afrika when germans surrendered in May 1943 or was he moved before to another front ? In either case do You know which position/s (from/to ?) he had ?

Herr Oschlies was not a WW1 regular. He was commissioned into the Königin Elisabeth Garde-Grenadier-Regiment Nr. 3 as a Leutnant der Reserve on 7 August 1915. He presumably joined the Wehrmacht during the expansion as an Ergänzungsoffizier (E-Offizier) and was already listed as an Hauptmann (E) and Adjutant to the Ausbildungsleiter Insterburg in October 1937. He was promoted to Major with seniority of 1.1.40 (187).
