    Fussart.Batl.33

Gentlemen, I may be displaying my ignorance here but can anyone tell me what the abreviation "Fussart.Batl.33.2.Batt" relating to a WW1 unit signifies?
I'm asking on behalf of a friend.

    Many thanks,

    Glenn.

Fuss means foot (I think), so could it be Foot Artillery Battalion 33, 2nd Battery?
Just a wild stab in the dark, I reserve the right to be completely wrong

The only mention I find for Foot Artillery Battalion 33 was under 8th Army during the occupation of the Baltic Islands in October 1917.

Foot Artillery units were heavy siege artillery. This (33rd Btn.) is a wartime unit's designation. Unlike field artillery, which travelled with a specificly assigned division, foot artillery tended to be sector troops, assigned permanently to the same area of a front, or controlled by Corps and higher command levels. They were split up from a few pre-war regiments into composite war units, often with individual batteries assigned from many different cadre units.

They are thus extremely difficult to trace on orders of battle.
