I can not find his name on the German War Graves site.

Is it Grenaider Regiment 194? If so:

                  http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...nter/GR194.htm
                  http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...ionen/71ID.htm

Gren.Rgt. 194 was part of 71 Inf.Div. and the chances are he was lost at Stalingrad.

Without a date and place of birth, difficult to take this further with the Deutsches Dienststelle.

                  Regards,
                  Ian

                        Yes 184

                        Dates tie in

                        Quete: Grenadier Regiment 184

Created on October 15, 1942 by the renaming of Infantry Regiment 184 and the 86th

Well all dates will tie in as all Infanterie Regiment were renamed Grenadier Regiment on 15.10.1942.

Mike can you show a clear image of the number and the unit stamp?

                          I can't make out if it is an 8 or a 9!

If it is an 8 then as Justin has mentioned, Gren.Rgt. 184 was part of 86 Inf.Div.

I have always referred to them as death scrolls.
