        "small clues" like NAMES help!

Gerhard Bielig was an ENGINEER, not an executive officer.
born 28 April 1916 and still alive in 1991. Crew 1934:

        Leutnant (Ing.) 1.4.37 #8
        Oberleutnant(Ing)
        Kapitänleutnant (Ing) 1.10.41 #1

and retired with that rank, which would have been later backdated seniority after getting his German Cross and Knight's Cross (theoretically back a year's seniority each).

German Cross in Gold 9.12.41 as Oberlt (Ing.) "leading engineer of a submarine" (His KC was as L.E. of "U-177" not a destroyer)

wife Marianne Bastian (if any relationship to the Admiral unknown) born 16.1.19XX.

In 1963 he was employed by German Lloyd in Düsseldorf. Resident in Neuss am Rhein from at least 1960-1991

Horst Weber born 8 August 1919 and alive 1991. Crew 1937b, however he was a RESERVE officer, so no Rank Lists for him.

German Cross in Gold 21.11.42 as Oberlt zS(dR) "commander of a torpedoboat"

        Retired as Kapitänleutnant zS dR

        Wife Rosemarie Sommer b. 9.6.1925.

After the war Dr.jur. In 1960 legal counsel of Vereinigte Industrieunternehmungen AG, Bonn. In 1983 on Board of Directors, Aluminium-Werke AG Berlin-Bonn, living in Meckenheim
