    SA Oberfuhrer Research Help

I have a dagger that has the name and dates obliterated, on the dedication. The Oberfuhrer was given a dagger on his 40th birthday in January 19??. He was from Brigade 73, which is part of Standarte 56 Rheinhausen.

I Have attached photos of the blade and hope someone has the references or research to help identify the former wearer of this dagger.

    Thank you,
    Bob Hritz

        Hi Bob,

I think the dagger belonged to Lucian Wysocki (born 18.01.1899). He was leader of SA Brigade 73 from 1.1.37 till 31.10.39. After that z.V der Gruppe Niederrhein. He was promoted to SA Brigadeführer on 30.01.39

        Best,

        Laurens

Laurens: I can't thank you enough. I am very happy to put a name to the dagger. Now, all I have to do is find a photo.

          Thank you again,
          Bob Hritz

              Laurens,

With your valuable assistance, I am building quite some research. He was transferred into the SS in May, 1940 as a SS-Brigadefuhrer, situated in Kovno as the SS und Polizeifuhrer.

                  Greg,

Who Knows! However Wysocki transferred into the SS in 1940 and was SS and Police Leader in Kovno, the city with the largest Jewish Ghetto in Lithuania.

It is not impossible the owner or family removed the name and date to eliminate evidence of Nazi collaboration or some GI may have defaced it to cover any ownership proiblems. Your guess is as good as any.

However, it has to be the most ornate and fantastically made Honor Dagger I have ever seen.

                    Hi Bob,

A beautiful dagger despite the abuse. Here is a horrible scan from Wysocki's RuSHA file. Nothing beautiful, just a little more information.

It can be found at NARA locator A3343-RS-G5426 should you want to order it. I have a few more pages printed out that I can send you as well.

Please note that Lucian was also known by the name "Lutz" and may be located in other files under that name.

                    Cheers,

                    Mike

Looks like a Horster product?? Is there a tang mark on the piece? Could Don Swanson use acid to restore the damaged part as it is real damascus?

While I am sure the Dolch is the most interesting and important aspect of this to those participating in this thread, I am the outcast because I think his SS career and his role in the East as an SS-u.Polizeiführer during the heydays of the Holocaust would make for some fascinating yet stomach-churning reading. With his brownshirt background, Himmler must have hand-picked him. His Wikipedia.de biography says he was in Vilnius, Kaunas and Minsk from July 1941 to March 1944, this being the area where the really big "scores" in Untermenschen were "achieved". Strangely, his bio makes no mention of him facing postwar justice. Right after the war he became an employee of a large department store in Duisburg, and that's where the biography stops. It would be interesting to know if he ever faced the bar of justice.
