    DKiG?

    Hello,
i bought a vey nice observer group some time ago incl the Wehrpass. it sais that the man recieved the DKiG on the 3.3.44. I checked the Scherzer but there he is not listed. His name is HansKarl Sachse. Are there any other list to check fr him? I am bit concerned that the DGiG and also the Ehrenpokal is added.
    thx for any help.

He is not in the Scheibert book either but not all names are in there. Post a scan of the entry.

Dete, why any worries or doubts? It was a great group.

Make a picture and some experts here will tell you.

You would be amazed at the number of DKiG awards that are legitimate but do not appear in Scheibert and Scherzer. To draw up a complete list, you would have to go through all of the surviving personnel records for the last year or two of the war. Since that would take someone many years (20? 25?), provided he could gain access to these records in the first place, it is unlikely that it will ever be done.

I am currently working with 18,000 pages of microfilmed Luftwaffenpersonalamt files that were filmed in Paris in July 1945 by the USSBS people. So far, I have found dozens of DKiG awards made between August 1944 and May 1945 that are not recorded in Scheibert and Scherzer. And that's just for the Luftwaffe. Lord knows how many there are for the Heer and other branches.

BTW, the entry 4th from the bottom in the Sachse WP. I make this out to be Flugzeugüberführungsgeschwader 1 Görlitz. Is that correct? It is very difficult to read.

Agreed both books are incomplete. In the case of SS silver awards I found 8 more for my book "German Cross in Silver Holders of the SS and Police." These included awards that were NOT late war so the time line isn't always a factor.
