A friend of mine recently picked up a very nice grouping from the daughter of a JU52 pilot. Included in this grouping are two war time photo albums, silver transport frontflugspange, EKII, cased pilots badge, Eastern Front medal, Italian-German campaign medal, cased 1936 "Sternflug" (?) Olympics badge, and his flight log from 1938 to 1945.
According to his daughter he was refused the EKI on numerous occassions because he and his family were dedicated Christian Democrats that would not join the nazi party.
What we would like to know is what group he flew with. The only indicator I could find was the "nose art" that was painted on the fuselage of the JU52. This emblem was a Narvik shield without the eagle.
Can anybody help?
Thanks,
Chuck
