    Chocow ?

    Does anyone know of the location "Chochol" in or around Stalingrad.
    I am doing some research on a soldier killed during the battle.

    Thanks if you have any knowledge of this location.

    I am looking for the placename CHOCHOL.

    IS THERE A WAY TO EDIT THE TITLE OF A POST on this forum ?

    No one knows what you are looking for because you used one name in the title and a completely different one in your post.

    First of all, Russian place names written in German to be looked up in English language cartographic resources must be transliterated before you can do anything. So,

    "Chocow" = Khokov
    "Chochol" = Khokhol

    An index of 2.7-million place names list neither. The closest approximations are:

    Khokholevo: flyspeck village 57.5 km N of Orel
    Khokhol’skiy: town 33.3 km WSW of Voronezh
    Khokhol-Trostyanka: village 100 km S of Voronezh

    There is nothing listed in the immediate vicinity of Stalingrad (Volgograd).

      Thanks for your response.
      I wrote it wrongly initially, however there seems to be no edit feature on this forum to change post titles.
      Is there a way to edit a post title ?

        ps. I just found it.
        eg.
        XXXXVIII.Panzerkorps
        ...from June of 1942 to November, 1942, it took part offensives in the Shchigry, KHOKHOL, Plodovitoye, Peregruznyy, Nizhne Chirskays, and Aksai areas near Stalingrad.

          Then it must be the one I have as Khokhol’skiy. That would be along the line of advance from Shchigry to Voronezh in late June/early July 1942.

          I don't know how to edit a post title. Maybe Simon O. or one of the forum moderators will come along and take care of it for you.
