Nebeleinheiten were usually assigned as Heerestruppen and Armeetruppen and mention of them would thus be found in the records of Heeresgruppen and AOKs. What you would find is mention of them in the KTBs and in the Anlagen material. Records of units small than a division were destroyed.

Yes, you'll find them mentioned at Korps level. Divisional too if attached to one at that level. All depends on which unit and what remains of the records of it's higher level formations.
Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.

Wouldn't it be a little difficult to determine which Korps a Nebel-Abt./Nebelwerfer-Abt./Werfer-Rgt. was supporting on some date? Being Heerestruppen, they were probably shifted around from Korps-to-Korps quite a bit. Tessin says the 1943-45 Werfer-Rgt. had a total of 9 batteries with 36 barrels per battery = 324 barrels. The total number of regiments suggests a distribution of perhaps two per AOK. Korps records generally end around 30 June 1944, although I have seen a few that had some files extending into September 1944. Otherwise, I am pretty sure the Korps records from 1 July 1944 to the end of the war did not survive.

Sorry to go off topic abit, but were Nebelwerfer also used for manufacture and firing of V1, 2, 3 etc? Would Nebelwerfer have been in charge of these sites?

No, Nebel-Abt. fired smoke cannisters and Nebelwerfer-Abt. fired high explosive rockets.

The V 1 and V 2 were handled by Flak-Rgt. 155 and 255. Go here and read all about it:

I've known (impersonally over the internet) Jason and Jim for 6 or 7 years, I guess maybe 10 or 11 for Jason, and I had forgotten those unit histories they had done on the Nebel/Nebelwerfer units. They are both avid wargamers from back in the 1980's/1990's and wrote huge amounts of OB stuff for wargamer magazines and for the games themselves. Jason is from the Chicago area and is a U.S. Army reservist who has had an active assignment or two in Iraq I think. Jim is an attorney (probably retired) from the Phoenix area. They know their stuff, although Jim's main interest is the war in the Pacific.
