    Hans Joachim Wittner

Lookin for any information on Luftwaffe Major Hans Joachi Wittner he was a
Russian POW. The thing is i have a press photograph from 9.7.42 with details
    on the back which read!
German officers and men condemn Hitlers war; from soviet war prisoners camp.

At a meeting of representatives from POW camps in the U.S.S.R. HELD ON June
28,1942, German officers and men made a broadcast appeal to German workers, to Hitler youth, to soldiers at the front to put an end to Hitlers war.
The prisoners, someof whom had voluntarily surrendered, said that they were
humanely treated by Russians abd deplored the crimes perpetrated by the German forces against soviet peoples and prisoners.
This Major Hans Joachim Wittner was addressing the meeting!

    ANY INFO WOULD BE GREAT!

In a data base of 25,000 Luftwaffe officers, that I am sure includes anyone who would have been a Major by 1942, there is no one by the name of WITTNER. There are a couple of WITTMERs, but no Hans-Joachim.

thanx, but it definately says Wittner! is it possible it could be a propoganda
photo with story? or it could be Wittmer if their is a H.J.Wittmer as their are a few spelling mistakes on the back of the press photograph!

No, the 3 or 4 WITTMERs had other first names - no Hans-Joachim.

Yes, it could be a propaganda photo with made-up names, WITTNER could be a Heer officer misidentified as Luftwaffe, or he could be that rare Luftwaffe officer that I do not have in my data base, especially if he was d.R.
