Same as a Grenadier Ersatz Kompanie, or an Infanterie Ersatz Kompanie

Not the same, because Grenadier or Infanterie was "normal" Infanterie. Schützen are motorized Infanterie. Schützen are the predecessor of Panzergrenadier.

Infanterie ==> renamed Grenadier (Infanterie of the Infanterie Divisions)
Schützen ==> renamed Panzergrenadier. (Infanterie of the Panzer Divisions)

What i meant was that it was a replacement battalion. Should have been more clear in my answer

Ah but it wasn't.....it was a replacment Company!

I will check this out, however normally if an independant unit, the Ersatz Kompanie held the number of the Ersatz Regiment, not an Ersatz Bataillon!

          /Ian

              Hello

It could be a Schützen Ersatz Kompanie from an Infanterie Ersatz bBataillon, too.

Show us the complet inscript, please.

              Best regards, Fronti

I know this has been discussed a few times. One thread was here although it's not just about Schützen Ersatz Kompanie.

Schützen Ersatz Kompanie were part of a Infanterie-Ersatz-Batallion and it does not signify motorised infanterie in the way a Schützen Ersatz Batallion does.

Other Ersatz Kompanie (Pionier, IG, Nachr.) etc carried the number of their Ersatz Regiment which in turn was supposed to provide specialist infantry replacements to that divisonal number. i.e. IG. Ers. Kompanie 216 provided specialist infanterie geschütz replacements to the 13./ kompanies of 216. Infanteriedivision's infantry regiments.

                  hello

                  Thats right.

Jnf. Pz. Jäg. Ers. Kp., Jnf. Gesch. Ers. Kp., Jnf. Pi. Ers. Kp., Jnf. Nachr. Ers. Kp. belonged to an Infanterie Ersatz Regiment.

                  As an example:
Jnf. Gesch. Ers. Kp 7 belonged to Infanterie-Ersatz-Regiment 7

If you have a script like 2. Schützen Ersatz Kompanie 7, than it belonged to Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon 7.

My mistake: Only the Schützen Ersatz Bataillone are renamed in Panzergrenadier Ersatz Bataillone.
The Schützen Coys of the Infanterie Ersatz bataillone are not renamed in Panzergrenadier Ersatz Coys.

                  Best regards, fronti
