    Grandfathers

Good evening! (for some at least)

According to some documents I found a while back, my maternal grandfather fought in the 9.Pz gren. regt. 110, 11. Panzer-division. I've been looking around a bit on the net and have found some information about this outfit, the "Gespensterdivision" apparently, but I would like to know more!

Anyone got any tips to where I can learn more about the 11. Panzer-division?

I also know that my paternal grandfather spent a lot of time in Preussig Holland during WW2, a town in former Eastern Prussia. I have pictures of him in his uniform, which shows he was awarded the KVK. That's about all I know, though I suspect he could have been training recruits.

Anyone got any info on if there were any garrisons or something of that kind in Preussig Holland?

    Best regards

It looks like there are 3 books on the Division:

    Reference material on this unit:

    Anton J. Donnhauser & Werner Drews - Der Weg der 11. Panzer-Division
Gustav W. Schrodek - Die 11. Panzerdivision 'Gespensterdivision': Bilddokumente 1940-1945
Gustav W. Schrodek - Ihr Glaube galt dem Vaterland, Die Geschichte des Panzer Regiments 15

Tessin Band XVI Stationierungen im Kriege 1939-1945, Teil 1 Wehrkreise I-VI, only shows one unit permanently garrisoned in Pr. Holland (22 km SE of Elbing) between Aug 39 and 23 Jan 45, the date it was taken by the Red Army, and that was Landesschützen-Ers.Btl. 1.
