        Originally part of 28th Jager Division, later 28th Infantry Division. Involved in Poland, France, then in Russia with AGC. After refitting in France was deployed in Northern Russia

              What an atrocity that so many of these beautiful medieval buildings were destroyed during the war. The Rathaus appears to be from circa 1490 - 1540 period. Fortunately, the ones in Freiburg im Breisgau are still intact.

                  Absolutely amazing that it survived! Festung Breslau was largely destroyed February - April 1945 by Russian bombs and shelling, especially the latter. There must have been enough of the Rathaus left so it could be reconstructed.

                        I second Jonathan. Absolutely incredible! It almost makes me think that the Russians intentionally avoided hitting the Rathaus, although they do not seem to have done that elsewhere.
