And yes Laurens, I seen that also.

Nicely said, Dion, so no hard feelings. All anyone expects is a "thank you" when they spend 15 to 30 minutes digging through their references trying to help someone.

      Cheers,

Yes Larry, the whole night was like that show curb your enthusiasim. I was reluctant to even mention here or to Ian I had the info on an open PM on yahoo msngr and when things calmed down in my apartment I started watching History Channels Dogfights show on my PC while on my sofa. I fel lasleep and knocked my laptop down which froze the entire screen. I woke up in terror thinking it bit the dust and luckily it restarted but unluckily I lost the entire PM. I checked the yaho o msngr archive but the option was switched off.

Also I understand the research ungratefulness, Medal guys get the e mails with 50 items asking if they are good and how much they are worth I do it also even if it is a bother, somehow I enjoy it, sometimes!

I haven't found Schrammke in Priller's book on the JG 26 and I haven't seen him on the Luftwaffe aces list. If he was a fighter pilot he must haven't shot down less than 5 airplanes. I haven't seen him among the Luftwaffe DKiG holders.

                  Pierre,

If you read the thread you will see he was not JG 26 and Dion lost the info that he was sent.....his fault but anyway the thread title is incorrect.

Still unknown what unit he was unless he is Schramme that Larry mentioned, however the German War Graves site has a Feldwebel Horst Schrammke listed as dying 16.4.1941 near Abbeville.......that is when and where Dion got confused with the mention of Abbeville!!!

                  /Ian
