    Book for researching regiments

I have a caopy of Sam Mitcham's book "Hitlers Legions" and it is great for doing basic research on each division. The problem is when researching different regiments it can take up to an hour to find which regiment belonged to which division because you have to scan page by page. Is there another book out there with an easy to read chart telling which regiment was assigned to which division?

You won't even have to buy a book:

'Hitler's legions' is a book that has good and bad information, if you can sort the wheat from the chaff then it has it's uses.

As Larry and Petrus point out, the internet has resources that now far surpass the book.

There is no single book or series that covers regimental histories on its own. There are a very few that have been written on individual regiments but in the main if it's a proper history you want then you have to look for divisional histories and the bulk are in German. It boils down to how much detail you're looking for really.

Your other choices are to go for Tessin's masterpiece, 20 books in 17 volumes. A little basic knowledge of military German is useful however.

          Or Dr.Niehorster's organizational series.

Search on German Amazon, abebooks.com. Weitze has the whole set for 630 Euros. I remember Detlev had it on CD but it's harder to find than the books.

Eur 630,00 is $920.00 U.S., and I'll bet shipping and handling would even it out to $1,000 or so.........a pretty hefty investment by any measure! And to think just 10 years ago Eur 630 - was $517.00...........Thank you, Mr. Bush!
