Michael Wittman's awards at the SOS

Well by now the cat is out of the bag..I had heard some time ago that noted collectors and dealers Stephen Wolfe and Neil Hardin were negotiating for Michael Wittman's awards, and so I guess the story is true as I was told they displayed the awards and documents at the 2008 SOS. Did anybody get any photos? I dont think a display could be more compelling and interesting than one on such a famous personality..

I wonder if the group has a numbered tank badge?

Wittmann was never photographed wearing one, but he must have qualified for one.

I wonder if he got a posthumous award?

I'd like to see any info that anyone can provide on this display. I don't know the post- 8.8.44 history of Wittmann's awards from Adam, but the administrators of the Wehrmacht Lexikon site state that they are in close contact with Frau Helmke (Wittmann's widow), and that Wittmann's decorations that were in their house when he was killed are still in a small private family museum in Germany. His cased RK, cased oaks, and cased oaks/swords are shown, along with an EKI, PAB, Wound Badge in Black, and ribbon bar.

I'm not trying to dispute anything; I'd just like to find out what was shown at the SOS.

              Thanks,
              Greg

You and me both, Greg. I've been asking for days now but nobody has been able to provide a detailed list of what exactly was shown, nor has anyone posted any pictures (that I'm aware of, anyway). I have been under the same impression as you regarding Wittmann's awards, so if they have in fact been sold and are no longer with the family, I for one would love to see them!

                      Sale

Well considering the Taxes in Germany if I sold them it would be tempting to claim they are still in a Museum. Make sense?

Wittmann was never awarded a numbered PAB. And in that photo too he only wears his PAB in silver.

The link to the wehrmachtlexikon is false, it´s: http://www.wehrmachtlexikon.de/archi...a6b120cad09f2b

And his decorations were just recently discussed here too: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=176165

Are you trying to say one of the highest scoring tank aces ever in ww2 was never awarded a numbered pab? crap... complete crap, excuse my language but he was on the russian front, normandy and i imagine alot of other places, destroyed so many tanks, was in so many engagements, and you say he only gets the basic pab? hmm id need to see some proof of that to be honest, but thats just me

                              Regards
