    RKT Alfred Eick- U Boot commander

    Does anyone have contact with KC Holder Alfred Eick?

    Eick was U- Boot commander on the U-510.

    As far as I know hes still alive..,.Can someone confirm that?

      That is sad to hear. More so that it is so tough to think about rather than we can not talk to him.

          Today I spoked to Alfred Eick...
          Last week he had his 92 birthday. He is in a good shape and health.

          We talked about receiving his KC.
          For 1 day he borrowed a knights cross from a Korvettenkapitan named something like "Dommels". Cant find this name however so I must have mispelled it. I will search further for the correct name.

          After that he got a converted EK2- iron cross 2nd class.

          Only 14 days before Kapitulation he got his official german knights cross. But no award docs: according to Eick they were send with mail/post on a Uboot (to Batavia) but Eick did not receive it.....most probably the Boot with the post sank.

          Interesting information I must say.

                I know him well. He does not respond anymore. 98 years old and poor health.

                  I agree. He is too old to reply. For answering my last letter two years ago he took one year.
                  I met him with my brazilian friends three years ago. He is a very nice gentleman.
