Any idea what this means??

I take it is a Kriegsmarine helmet?

Breitner is his surname and
N 35/37 K his dog tag number.....

Will check later as I can not remember at the moment but "N" I thing is Admiral der Nordsee, 37 the year he joined the KM and "K" his trade....

I wonder if you could clarify (if possible) exactly what <b>Initial unit came under Admiral of the North Sea</b> means. For example, would this mean that his unit (whatever that was) came under the command of the Admiral of the North Sea? I'm assuming <b>N</b> stands for North Sea.
