    Léon Degrelle Decorations

    hello,

Which decorations did Léon Degrelle recieved?
    It's hard to find.

    And when?

I have a little bit (saved up in Word). But I miss many things.

I know directly that he recieved DK Gold, Ritterkreuz + Eichenlaub ...

Normally he should recieved medals for his seventy-fize days of hand-to-hand combat.

He was first in Whermacht before joining Waffen-SS.

He fought at Eastern-front, he was wounded couple of times, directly at the front. So he should recieve decorations for that too.

Normally I think he should've recieved a Spanish medal(s) too?

    I appreciate all help!

    THANK YOU GUYS

              Promotions:

              12.02.1942 Gefreiter (Heer)
              28.02.1942 Oberfeldwebel (Heer)
              01.05.1942 Leutnant d. R. (Heer)
              01.06.1943 SS-Obersturmführer d. R. der Waffen-SS
              01.01.1944 SS-Hauptsturmführer d. R. der Waffen-SS
              20.04.1944 SS-Sturmbannführer d. R. der Waffen-SS
              01.01.1945 SS-Obersturmbannführer d. R. der Waffen-SS
              20.04.1945 SS-Standartenführer d. R. der Waffen-SS

Also for arguements sake, he had been promoted to Brigadeführer und Generalmajor der Waffen-SS by Himmler on 02.05.45, but since Himmler was stripped on his position at that point, the promotion was not valid.

Not so strange at all. Degrelle was initially offered an officier's rank, but turned it down and started his military carreer as a private.

                  cheers

Randy, that is most probably a correct assumption . Still I assume he had the qualifications for an officer, or he wouldn't have been offered a commission in the first place, less recieving one three months after his first appearence. With that in mind, his promotions doesn't seem that strange.

                      cheers
                      Peter
