    Luft Flak Regiment 64

I am hoping Larry or someone else here can share with me any additional info on Flak Regiment 64, especially in the earliest time, around 1937.

All I could Google up was http://www.ww2.dk/ground/flak/flargt64.html

I am trying to research a Luftwaffe Leutnant E. Welk, of a unit abbreviated I./64 and 4./9. So far I take this to stand for I Abt. 64 Flak Regiment and the other numbers some reference to Kompanie or Batterie?

The officer´s name is not listed in the published 1945 Luft Rangliste or in the unpublished 1944 one.

    Thx

    Hola Gustavo!

I checked my data base for an E. Welk but without success. The only WELK I have is this guy and he is not your man, of course:

WELK, Wilhelm. 21.10.44 Hptm., appt Staka 5./NJG 101 (to 15.03.45).

The Flak units used Arabic numbers for their batteries, so "4./9" appears to be a very abbreviated designation for 4. Batterie/Flak-Rgt. 9.

Very few Flak records survived the war, and those few were mainly fragmented miscellaneous records scooped up by the Allies as they moved forward on the various fronts. I have been through all of these surviving records and there was no folder or file for Flak-Rgt. 64 or any of its Abteilungen. What survived is in NARA WashDC RG 242, T-321 and T-405. BA-MA also has a Signatur of some 550 folders of Flak-Abschußberichten (RL 4? RL 5?), but these would not provide answers to your questions.

    Sorry.

Thanks for the thought, Gustavo! Fortunately, they seem to be north of us. We got hit last year, so I guess it's someone else's turn this year.

So when a tornado hits, your uniforms go into the shelter and your wife stays above ?

Uniforms? I haven't had a uniform on since October 1968 and I am sure they don't fit anymore.

The only thing I collect is information.
Yes, I am, and 10 years before that, too. I was in charge of a communications-intelligence center at Korat RTAFB in Central Thailand. Why? Were you there?
