Artillerie Regiment 271 in Normandy : any infos ?

Hi !

I would love to find more informations than what's currently online about this unit.

What triggred off my interest is the fact I found a german dog tag in the woods along the luxemburg border east of Bastogne in belgium last week and if someone could help, I would truly appreciate. A web site sais the unit was destroyed in Normandy in August.

Artillerie-Rgt. 271 belonged to 271. Infanterie-Division, which was destroyed at Falaise Aug 1944 while subordinate to LXXIV. Armeekorps/5. Panzerarmee.

Since there is no published divisional history of the 271. Inf.Div., you will have to check to see if there are some Foreign Military Studies that cover the division, LXXIV. A.K. or the Falaise pocket:
