    Where to Start?

I have been assembling items from the 14.ID and am going to attempt to research the division, units within, personnel and battle history and maybe make a "collection" website w/the information...where do I begin?

    I have the following books:
    -Geschichte des 11. (Sachs.) Infanterie-Regiment 11
-The German (Infantry) Order of Battle - Nafziger
-Die Deutsche Divisionen (the volume on my division)

I will probably pick up the ranklists.

What would be the best way to start without spinning my wheels or spending waaaaaaay too much money?

    Thanks in advance!

From one "newbie" to another, here is an idea (I have been at this for about a year). One of your best resources is the National Archives in Maryland. There you can find microfilm records for the 14.ID (visit sturmpanzer.com - http://www.sturmpanzer.com/Default.a...1&item=2&sec=1 - and download the Guide Number 63. It lists the available records for the 14.ID. You can then either visit the archives; which since you are in PA is not too far away. If you do this, check out their web page for how to become a researcher (http://www.archives.gov). If that does not work, then you can order the records on microfilm, or DVD for $65 for each roll of microfilm copied.

That is a simple way to get started.

    All the best.
