    Need information on an KM engineer officer from the U357



    Hi

    I just succeed to buy a reefer jacket wich belonged to the lieutenant Wilhelm Petersen.
    Petersen was the U357 engineer officer and was KIA the december 26th 1942.
    According the "report of interrogation of survivor from the U357" (WWW.uboatarchive.net), Petersen was promoted from the lower deck.

    Do you know if is it possible to have more information about him? His career in the navy before the war and during the war? Petersen won the iron cross second class.
    Is it possible to find a picture from his officer naval school promotion?

    Hi Benoît,

    Nice to see you here again after a long time.

    I think you can try the WASt in Berlin as it is possible that they have your man's military-file over there.
    For a photo the Uboot Archive in Cuxhaven-Altenbruch may perhaps help you further as they have photo-albums, crewphotos, portraits etc, I am not saying that they will have a photo of your man there, but it is possible.

      Hi Erich

      I plan to visit the Uboot Archiv in April. I was there last september too.
      I know that i will find interesting information in the U357 Uboot archiv album.

        If his file is extant, it will be at WASt. That they give you a copy is another story They are expremely anal. I have had success with two of the officials there, and an outright refusal by another. I am working on improving this but it takes time.
