    Help Needed

    Hello everyone:
I am new here. Can some of you help me out with this oneb030:
    My question is:

    1) Can some one help me to trace the soldiers name and where he was stationed? Or knows some one who could find this? BUCHHEIM 5274 and in pecil Ernst Bucheim 6 G ... that I can't read anymore. I strongly believe this helmet was left in Belgium by the soldier because I picked it up at one of my connections who buys whole estates from deceased persons. The german soldier was either captured in Belgium , Killed or fled away.

the 5274 is that a feldpostnumber or what is it?

More photo's and explanation are in the helmet forum
    thx in advance

Here is some more info regarding to this subject:
it is a very early helmet so maybe the Feldpostnumber is also early :?

This is a Q 64 made helmet shell with batchnumber 3144 or 5144 can't quite make out cause there is the guys name in paint on the number. The interior leather lining is marked with SchubertH Werke Braunschweig Z 63 / 56 dated 1936.
63 for helmet size and 56 for liner size. Early aluminium ring has also shubert werke and Braunschweig 1936 stamp A very EARLY helmet production
It has brass rivets which have never been dismantled.
This helmet came from a "brocanteur" which he picked up at an estate purchase from a very old lady in the walloon area near Brussels.

The inside is a 95% + original very light gray appel green colour It has no acceptance marks in the dome. I have not looked inside the interior but want to leave the helmet as found with drawstring tight. named to BUCHHEIM 5274 and in pecil Ernst Bucheim 6 G ... that I can't read anymore.
the outside has the original lightgreencolour which was officialy overpainted with the kammerzimmerit dark green grey colour of 1940 and then it was overpainted with a greyyellow (beige)paint leaving some of the kammerzimmerit vissible and was at the same time painted with a light green paint I believe this was done somewhere in the middle of 1944.

5274 isn't a feldpost number but a stammroll number. Only two men of that name are listed on the German wargraves database, one killed in '43 on the Easternfront and the other died in '41 in North Norway.

The 6 G... may refer to his unit and may be 6 kompanie Grenadier ....(something or other)

many thx Simon for your research.
Is it possible to track this soldier down if he wasn't killed in one or the other database of the bundesarchiv? or so.
Can one find someone if you got the stamrollnumber?
            thx in advance

Simon, could it be a KM number? I have a helmet with a four digit number and "O" for Ostzee?
