Indeed, amazing how he survived and what a brilliant achievement receiving his KC + O + S in almost 1 year. His nickname was something like "der Schreck der Kaukasus".....the fear of the Caucasus.

Perhaps his wife gets him away from the historicans?!

I'm fine Martin this year i was at the Estonian Waffen SS Veterans reunion in the Summer as well as my other trips to the Battlefields so i couldn't get to the JHV maybe next year as unfortunately i fear there will not be that many more. Thanks to you all for posting the photos of this year but the numbers attanding are dwindling rapidly , when i first started going to the JHV there would be 50 or 60 RKT present plus other notables such as Otto Guensche etc.

Your right about Frau von Gaza she could be quite formidable if she thought that collectors were using up too much of V Gaza's time !!!

Truly wonderful to see that these men love and respect their country so much! Raising for their national anthem eventough they have alot of difficulties with walking or standing

what remarkable lives they have lived and they still live.

I would say it would not be an easy life being a WW2 Deutsche Vet as their post war country wants to forget these guys.

Herr von Gazen looks as if he can still take on anything! It put a tear in my eye when I read the post of him standing up for his national anthem even if he's frail! Truly is mind over matter that took these guys to their limits! My respects to Herr von Gazen!
