    Thanks for sharing the photo!

Yes, Kurt is a bit shy and his health is suffering. Even more I appreciate that he recently
helped me with a little bit of information for my biography on
    'Teddy' Wisch.

    Cheers,
    Markus

Go to above link for a recent photo, taken on the last weekend of March (2011). ON the left is LAH Knight's Cross holder, Kurt Sametreiter, with his former LAH Kameraden, Manfred Thorn. Picture taken at the Friedhof in Halbe, south east of Berlin.

Herr Sametreiter does not respond to letters, etc. due to health and other reasons.

Thought some of you may like to see a still-active Waffen-SS Knights Cross holder? He turned 89 last week.

As a side note, I met Major Martin Drewes in an event in a bookstore past weekend (30/04/2011), where he talked about some of his wartime experiences. He's still in good shape for his age - and is a true gentleman.

Does anyone know any news on SS-Sturmmann Gunther Lange? (Awarded the RK 6. Mai 1945, I believe?) Getting a list of living SS recipients, sadly most most have already left us.

                            Thanks in advance,
                            Lev
