        Hi Tyler,

        From Mitchum's "Hitler's Legions":

-formed in 1921; first saw combat in France in 1940
-part of Army Group C in "Barbarossa"; saw heavy combat in Soviet counter-offensive before Moscow; withdrew from Rzhew Bulge in'42; fought at Kursk as part of 48th Pz Korps; destroyed in Operation Bagration (Soviet offensive of 22 June 1944 - AKA Cannae of Army group Centre) - CG Generalleutnant H-W Heyne captured. Remnants formed into 6th Volksgrenadier Division (never more than a kampfgruppe in strength); surrended to Red Army in spring '45.
