    Feldpost number WM 52570,

I’m rearranging my mannequins and display, while doing that I stumbled upon a verbandkasten, nothing special, but I now noticed it had a (possible) feldpost number, WM 52570, could someone confirm that it’s a feldpost number and if so for which unit it was?, thanks in advance.

      thanks,

Thanks for the quick reply and additional information Jonathan, would WM stand for wachtmeister?. It seems that this verbandkasten did service throughout the whole war in Greece, makes you wonder how it ended up in Friesland.

It's a vehicle licence plate number, WM belonging to the Kriegsmarine.

          Kriegsmarine,

Thanks mister Orchard, that changes the whole story, the verbandkasten in indeed vehicle blue/grey, would that mean that it was a verbankasten from a Kriegsmarine vehicle stationed Nordsee Wilhelmshaven?.

Not necessarily at Wilhelmshaven, but somewhere that would have been supplied by the Nordsee station...like a KM station in Friesland for example.

Thanks Simon, i was wondering whether it was a FPN or not. 5 digits was OK but the WM left me with a doubt.

As an aside that website is a wealth of information and research posibilities. Christoph deserves all the credit in the world for it

                Kriegsmarine,

Gentleman, I thank you both for your effort to help me with this number, it could well be Friesland or Groningen because the verbandkasten found its origin in the city Delfzijl in the province of Groningen in Holland, in both provinces where a lot of Kriegsmarine units stationed during the war.
