    lah questions

    these units puzzle me.lah wach regiment which unit in the lah roster was this or is it seperate fron the 1 ss panzer division?was the lah ausbildungs-und ersatz battalion based in speenhagen?and last who were the fuhrer begleit kompanie ?

    The "Wach" component appears to have been removed from the Division during its reorganization of 15 July 1942.

        Spreenhagen was the location of the LAH training unit after the bombing of Berlin became too routine, thus disrupting the activities at the Lichterfelde barracks. Spreenhagen is southeast of Berlin along the Autobahnring. I suspect that it was also more suitable for training recruits in field conditions, something the Germans appreciated more as the war continued.

        For a better understanding of the Fuehrer Begleit units, see Peter Hoffmann's book Hitler's Personal Security. Other books out there tend to have more errors and even fabrications.
