    NARA holdings?

I have been told that NARA holds, as part of the Microfilm Publication A3356, German Armed Forces Personnel Files, Rolls 1323-1454: Records of Luftwaffe officers, non-officers, army reserve and medical personnel.

Could anyone confirm whether or not this includes Luftwaffe NCOs? what about Heer Reserve officers? If so, are those reserve officer records the same as are held in Karteikarten form at BA-MA? Would be very useful to know

NARA/US copied and returned most the WH documents that are now in BA/MA. Many of them are the same records. Someone else will know the contents better than I do concerning LW NCOS. Wartime service Reserve officers are in there as are Medical officers but the files are not complete and do not have all officer's files.

      Hi G. -

      From my personal notes:

NOTE: I received this NARA Microfilm Publication A3356 inventory on 3 September 2006 from [name removed] who lives in the Washington area. He believes it contains the records of Luftwaffe officers. Except for the Luftwaffe Beamte beginning with Roll 1455, these are limited to Luftwaffe officers who transferred over to the Heer by spring 1945. I checked many of the names listed between Rolls 1323 and 1454 against my 872-page file of 22,300 Luftwaffe officers and found NO matches!
A3356 contains only officer records. There are no NCO or enlisted records. If you are interested in an NCO, you will have to contact BA-MA Freiburg.

I should add that these indices are updated quite frequently and the one in my post was just updated last week. Several of the rolls listed haven't even been released for research.

yeah, I saw that list. The list claims (rolls 1323ff) that records of Luftwaffe "non officers" are held at NARA. Larry doesnt think so. If anyone knows its Larry

Im also curious to know if the same claim made on that list regarding Heer Reserve files is accurate or not. I have had someone check NARA for me in the past and nothing was found. Later I had BA-MA check and they returned to me a copy of the Reserve Karteikarte of the reserve officer i was looking for. This is what i would like to know: Does NARA have the same cards in their holdings?

I had an extended PM exchange with MJC about a month ago concerning the Karteikarten. I'll let him reply for himself, of course, but he checked thoroughly at NARA and there is no evidence so far of these card indexes ever being microfilmed while in Allied custody. Nor, apparently, were they ever sent to the U.S. They were last known to be in the possession of the Captured Documents Library on Monck Street in London in 1947. They were then turned over to the War Office and then returned to Germany in the 1960s or early 1970s. You know the rest.
