I was holder of the complete Generalleutnant Wilhelm Thofern (fsther of Werner Thofern) relationship and know the family.
There were only a couple of pictures of this ceremony left in the family.

Werner T. received his KC in Groß Born as he was there in hospital. Trainings camp Groß Born leader Wilhelm Thofern awarded his son himself; very unique.

Here one of the pictures I got out of the family (Mrs. Thofern, Günter Thofern, unknown, Werner and Wilhelm Thofern). Picture is visible on a forum members webside as well.

KC document has been sold 2000 on Carsten Baldes webside (dono for sure, but maybe Werner Th. widow gave it to him)

Don, this picture has been "published" on Hans Houtermann's webside ( German Generals ). I sent him the informations of Generallt. Thofern and the permission to post some of my Thofern pictures there.

at first i have to apologize for my English.
I would like to support two polish friends from Borne Sulinowo (former Truppenübungsplatz Groß Born) in searching for information about the former Kasernenkommandat Generalleutnant Wilhelm Thofern. My friends live in the town and collect all things and information about the former Truppenübungsplatz. The are to write a book about the history of the TÜP.
So the most wanted information ist about Wilhelm Thofern. I saw "Gerd W."´s posts here, but i think he retired. So if anyone has information about Wilhelm Thofern, please let me know. If anybody likes some information about Groß Born or Westfalenhof: I will try to help.

By the way: Borne Sulinowo ist the smallest and youngest polish town and in a very beautifull landscape an full of historic stuff, like many bunkers from the former Ostwall, Pommernstellung. For more information just google "Groß Born".

A house close to Thoferns Villa in Groß Born ist to be sold. I think Rommel lived here during his stay in Groß Born. On the other side of the street is the house where Guderian lived.
