I am having great dificulty in regestering on the German War Graves site.
Can anyone help by telling me how many if any, Unterscharfuhrer Franc's there were, or were killed ??
I have an item of equipment with this name on it.
Would like to trace a little bit about the owner (I know ita a long shot).

Der Nachname muss in allen Fällen ausgefüllt werden. Um ein möglichst genaues Ergebnis zu erzielen, sollte das Feld Geburtsdatum ebenfalls ausgefüllt werden. Bei der Suche nach Toten des 1.WK bitte anstelle des Geburtsdatums das Todesdatum eingeben, da uns für diese Toten in der Regel keine Geburtsdaten vorliegen. Das Feld Vorname sollte nur dann ausgefüllt werden, wenn kein Geburts- oder Todesdatum bekannt ist.

if I understand Sturgis correctly, he thinks Franc is the last name.

Entering "Franc" in the Nachame field, I get ten results, but no info as to branch of service or rank is provided

Perhaps Sturgis has never used it before and when he tried to enter the name "Franc" and click "Suchen" it transferred him to the register page that you have to fill in before you can use the web site to search for names. Maybe he didn't want to fill in all those blanks on the registration page. I know I am not going to fill them in. They want far too much personal information and I am not going to give that to anyone.

Thats the problem, no matter how many times I try and register, it wont let me do so. I cant see I am filling in anyhing wrong !
Franc would be the surname.

It's a charity so they ask for the details of those who use their very useful free service, you'll get a letter asking if you're interested in donating, that's all. I do, but i use the database several times a week so i feel it's only fair.

Not sure what you're doing wrong Richard but i know that once you've done it once it will be remembered on that computer via a cookie.

Is that all the information you have, or are there any more clues on the the equipment?
