    KIA helmet

I have a named helmet that I bought in a vide grenier in Normandy some years ago, in fact I have visited the original owners grave a few times. The soldier was in 8./J.R.61 and was reported killed on 13.07.44 at Anctoville. I would be really grateful if anyone could give me some more information on this unit and its involvement in the Campaign.

Cheers for the steer Ade but there is no information on Normandy. Anctoville is a small village just north of Villers Bocage and I got the helmet in a vide grenier in Calvados.

From what I have read (But I am open to correction on this) that unit did not fight in the West in '44? Maybe the guy was transfered?

        Cheers, Ade.

Hi Graeme, yes I remember meeting up with you

You have read the text correctly. I think the unit was maybe his original posting?

            Cheers, Ade.

Looks like his dogtag number, he was clearly posted to another unit at some point.
