    Balthasar 'Bobby' Woll. Signature Question

Prior to his death I wrote 2 letters to Bathasar 'Bobby' Woll, asking for a signed photograph for my collection. Alas, I was not to receive a reply.

Many of my friends from the RKT signature community also wrote similar leters, and to my knowledge, all were unsuccessful too.

What I have found a little suprising is that is the last 18 months or so I have been offered 3 different examples. None of these examples has however been accompanied by a letter, note or mailing envelope. For these reasons, I declined on all 3.

I will now post all 3 examples and ask any fellow collectors using this forum whether they can post signed examples which were received from Balthasar Woll himself first hand as comparison pieces.

With not even a sniff of a signed photograph whilst he was still alive, to be offered 3 in a relatively short space of time, without any accompannying letters or mailing envelopes, does not instill confidence from where I am sitting.

All replies will be well received.

    Regards Richard.

        Woll

Hi There; I'm very skeptical about any Bobby Woll signed photos. I have a letter dated from 1987 from Mrs. Woll that stated he couldn'd sign anything because of health problems associated from his Normandy"44 head injury. She did include an original 1944 news clipping of him and Wittmann with the TigerS04 though. I have a few signatures of Franz Staudegger, who is also a rare signature because he died in 91. I wrote with SS KC holders and commanders since the early 1980s, never saw a Woll signature to compare it with as he was ill even then.

I too am very sceptical of signed Woll photographs, hence I started this thread.

I do not have any signatures of Franz Staudegger myself (in fact, in all my years of collecting I do not recall a single example offered for sale)

That said, would it be possible for you to post an example here?

            Regards Richard.

I have never heard about an original signature by Woll. All offered must be handled with great suspicion!!!

I think that the lack of posting of any signed photographs of Balthasar Woll, which have been received direct from the Knights Cross recipient himself, only serves to reinforce the fact that the examples offered have to be treated with the utmost suspicion.

I have no regrets in the fact I declined on all 3.

                Regards Richard.
