First name and place of birth only

Hello,
This is a long shot but I hope someone can help me. i have a photograph album to a Luftwaffe pilot. I know from the album his name is/was Rolf and he was born in Lauenstein, Germany. However, I do not know his surname. I have done a search on various websites but they all need a surname for obvious reasons!

Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi Andy

Personally, I think you are going to find this really, really difficult.

You may have an outside chance if you post up a couple of photographs so that other forum members can check the chaps rank, any evidence of awards won etc.

The more information you can give members, the increased chance you have.

On saying that, there are no guarantees and I have been in the same position as you, not once, but too many times to mention.

A frustrating problem as you feel you nearly have the identity of the man in your grasp. I will scan the photo's and show it on the paper forum.
