Greetings I am doing a research paper on the battle of Mortain (August 7-12 1944) and am looking for resources for the above units. Of particular interest to me are memoirs and first hand accounts of actual soldiers from the battle. Most of the resources I have are very detailed in terms of the Allies, but not so much for the Germans. If anyopne can help I would appreciate it.

For the 1st SS Panzer Division, probably the best overall for what you want is Lehmann & Tiemann's "The Leibstandarte" books - Vol IV part I has Normandy. This series has been reprinted by Fedorowicz and other companies in English, and is on Amazon. It includes first-hand anecdotes from veterans.
I don't have it but I would guess that Otto Weidinger's series on Das Reich (also reprinted by Fedorowicz) covers Normandy.

Translation of the "Das Reich" history do not cover 1943, the English editions already taking longer to be produced than Weidinger needed to write them.Comment

I would love to have a copy of that, but with the Holiday season coming up and my college status I cant afford to pay the 80 dollars for it. If anyone has it and would like to send me scans of the relevant sections pertaining to the Mortain counterattack I would love to use it in my work.
