    Researcher

    Dear Larry,

As requested, for the boards. I did a web search for "NARA Reasearcher" and chose the following:

    Westmoreland Research
    Post Office Box 20069
    Alexandria, VA 22320-9804
    Telephone: (202) 421-5151
    Fax: (703) 317-1709
    E-mail: mjc@westmorelandresearch.org
    Contact Person: Michael Constandy

I'd highly recommend Mike. He's doing a very professional job researching my grandfather for us, and he found things in hours that I had no idea even existed.

We're very pleased with the quality of his research, and the costs are very resonable considering what he's finding!

Will post more as I get further information.
    Sincerely,
    Amber

        Update on research!

Hi, and a sincere thank you to everyone who's helped me research my Grandfather as well as the medals my dad had in his footlocker.

*UPDATE* My researcher has provided me with a huge packet of documents copied from microfiche, which I'm still going over. However, I thought that I would post the following for your interest. If you have any insights or comments on the following, I'd appreciate your input!

        From Opa's Lebenslauf:

"On 5.VI 1941 I was enrolled as a volunteer in the Waffen
        SS in Weimar-Buchenwald. My
Military8 Number is: SS Bombardier9 Karl Drews
        Military Nr. 37497."

        Pasted on the boards are:

        Opa's handwritten lebenslauf
        a translation in English
        Oma's lebenslauf (not yet translated)
        Photos of Opa and Opa
        Family tree documents

Hope you find these interesting, thanks for your comments!
        Amber

We'll have better copies of the pictures, soon, but wanted to post what I had.

These are my Oma - she and I went skydiving together when she was 65 years old!

Thanks for your interest and any help. The documents I still need to go over include feldpost numbers and other details. I'll post those as I sort them out.

                              Thanks!

looking through my packet, most of it relates to geneology, but I did find a reference on the front of a booklet to:

Diestgrad (rank?) ss Rttf, which I assume is SS Rottenfuhrer, with the date 25 jun 1943
