    German cross holder

    Hello,

I would like to get some informations regarding a sturmbannführer from Totenkopf division. He is a german cross holder.
His name should be karl paul Schmidt.
If some people could check in theirs books to see if this officer is in the list, it would be great.

    Thanks
    Ron

    Hi Ron,
There is no SS Strumbannfuhrer who won a DKiG by the name of Karl Paul Schmidt. However there is a SS Strumbannfuhrer Karl SCHMIDZ. DKiG winner. I think he's your man.
Awarded on 2 July 1944. Unit: Kampfgru. Prutzmann.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,
    AB.
    In memory of my Uncle,
    Schtz.Grenadier KARL HOFBAUER,
    2 Kompanie, Inf-Bat, 550.
Killed in action, Krasnoje, Minsk, 7. Nov. 1942.

      Hi Ron

I have found some information on a Karl Schmitz who was awarded the DKiG.

      Name: Schmitz, Karl
      Date/Place of Birth: 2. 6.13 (Prüm/Eifel)
      SS Nr: 94 645
      Rank: Sturmbannfuhrer

I also have a Sturmbannfuhrer named Paul Schmidt, though he does not appear as a DKiG holder.

If you can confirm the name, then I can continue and add some more information on this Schmitz as I have some other bits and bobs on him.

        Hi mates,

        Thanks for helping.
The man i'm looking for is the one fromthe picture.

I tought it could be Karl Paul Schmidt von Asten, Lynen u. Schleicher.
His family is from Stolberg near Koln in Germany.

I know that the family Schmidt produced mauser 98k during the war :

Schmidt, Kranz u. Co., Nordhaeuser Maschinenfabrik AG, Nordhausen
        fcv code

And family von Asten Lynen :

Stolberger Metallwerke AG (formerly Asten, Lynen u. Schleicher), Stolberg
        fd code

        Thanks.

          Hi Werner

I have tried several combinations of the names you have given and do not seem to be getting anywhere.

I have found a Karl Schmidt, but I do not think it is your man as he did not win the DKiG, according to the resources I have.

Is it just the photograph that you have, or do you have any further information that you can share with us, as you seem to know a fair bit about the family
