Was he Heer or Luftwaffe?
On what date was he a Leutnant?
Was he a Truppenoffizier, Offizier der Reserve, Kriegsoffizier or other?
Do you know that he survived the war?

Need answers to these questions before anything else can be done.

I can for sure say the following about Elimar.

He was ordered to join the Gran Sasso Unit while he was stationed in France, at an Airfield called Orange. He left a suitcase with personal stuff. W. Muuß (later Muus) a young board mechanic was later send by Heiner Lange (known Nazi Officer and Pilot) back to Hamburg (or Kiel) to bring back his suitcase. I recall this story, because I heard it numerous times. Muuß was upset Elimar's Wife dind't even invited him or coffee.

Later during the 70's W. Muuß meet Lt. Elimar Meyer at Glider meeting at Hamburg, Germany State University. Muuß came up to him with: "Elimar! It's me, Werner Muuß!". Though Elimar denied beeing the person and dissapeared.

I read today, that there was a meeting during the 70's at Hamburg State University, were also Hanna Reitsch appeared. I am now assuming it must have been the meeting W. Muuß was telling me about. Muuß was a flaming Reitsch Fanboy.


Also, during the last day of War W. Muuß was traveling on his own to Berlin to join remaining parts of his Unit. He told me, he was arrested by GESTAPO but they let him go after he gave him the phone Number of Hanna Reitsch.

There are little facts about Heiner Lange on the web. But I know alot of story's about him. And I suspect they were all SS members somehow. And know for a fact, Muuß was a volunteer later for sucuicide rockets. He witnessed a mobile launch vehicle running into an high voltage cable during testings near Hannover, Germany. Several soldiers were killed while actually pushing the vehicle into it.

Regarding Lt. Elimar Meyer, he died in Hamburg, Germany as far as I know. And he may have been the Elimar that was an official member of the Glider Club in Hamburg Boberg district. The son of W. Muuß is still an high official Aero Lobby Representant today. And it is not me!

Orange was actually the name of the town close or at the airfield in France mentioned, if I recall correctly.

Since Elimar was among elite soldiers and was still hiding himself during the 70's I suspect he served in different secret units. Since both, Heiner Lange and W. Muus were members of the Suicide Squadron.

The internet states the suicide squadron was named Leonidas and part of the SS. W. Muus denied both, the SS fact and the name until he died in 2012 as probable the last living member of the Leonidas Squadron.

I wouldn't be suprised if it was really an SS unit though. What makes me so curious about this Unit is the fact that it seems so secret that there is basically no information about still today. Which also may be connected to the fact, that those suicide rockets where part of a new engine technology and may have been keept under the table by the Allies.
