some help with research name, Thomas Sientschnig

    Hi guys!

I've got a helmet with a very unusual name.. "Thomas Sientschnig" ,at least this is what it appears to be. He was a Wehrmacht soldier, have no idea what unit. The only information I have on him is his helmet. And it appears that he didn't survive the war.

Maybe some of you can help me finding some information about this man, Thomas Sientschnig ?

Here are some pictures of the name in the helmet..

    Many thank in advance!,
    Dennis

        Hi Dennis,

        really a very rare name.

In Germany you will not find this family name in the recent phonebook at all.

Only in Austria you find 5 entries with Sientschnig, 3 in the village of

Wattens/Tirol and 2 in the village of Schäffern (Schaeffern), Steiermark.

        That's all!

        Gerdan

Dennis, I checked the name against the NARA SS index and I regret there was no match. NARA claims that they have 95% of the SS files so the absence of his name on the index doesn't necessarily mean he wasn't a member. If I get some time, I'll check HEER.

              Good luck!
