Pionier-Btl. 81
Formed 1 Aug 1938 from Pi.Btl. Nr. 4 "Birago" of the Austrian Army. Peacetime station in Linz/Wehrkreis XVII. On 14 Nov 1938 the Stab and 2. Kp. were removed and used to form Pi.Btl. 100/100. le.Inf.Div. and then replaced. Destroyed in June 1944 near Bobruisk. Reestablished 19 Jul 1944 at the troop training ground (Truppenübungsplatz) Döllersheim/Austria from Pi.Kp. 1546/546. Gren.Div. that was being formed there at the time. Subordination: 45. Inf.Div. - 1939 Poland, 1940 France, 1941-44 Central Russia (Tula, Orel, Bobruisk);
45. Gren.Div. (later 45. Volks-Gren.Div.) - 1944-45 Vistula Bend in Central Poland, Silesia. Replacements: 80 Melk; 5 Jan 1940 E 86 Melk/Wehrkreis XVII.

I am researching a austrian a stabsfeldwebel tunic from that battalion..
Tell me, is there any way to find out more? like how many of this rank was attached to a battalion?

On the home page at the far right side, click on OB, Gliederungen, KStNs, then on KStNs again, then on Pioniereinheiten. You will see 12 or so selections. Click on Stab and on Pi.Kp. That should give you a start. This is the only web site with a large selection of KStNs (tables of organization and allowances) for various Wehrmacht units.
