Hello Gerdan, thanks for your response and explanation of the rank, I didn’t thought about it that way but oberfeldwebel sounds very plausible, the name perhaps could also be Krüs or something like that, all in all minimal information to do a proper research I think?.

        Hi Ostrfies

I have looked at it and I think it is Klüs as well.

With regards to research, you would be surprised and even with this, you may have a chance of finding your man, so give it a go

I am not sure if you have used the German war graves site, but that could be a good start. You never know, Ostfries

Hello Raymond, thanks for your advise, I apologies for not knowing my way researching things, until now I only purchased the items and never bothered researching them, perhaps one of the interesting things about this hobby.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>
The only information I have is a rank, oberfeldwebel, name, Klüs, number, 1941 and the certainly information that he must have bin a Fallschirmjäger because its written in a FJ helmet liner, perhaps there’s something possible in doing some research and any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

            Hi Ostfries,

among the 4,4 million graves of German soldiers in the Volksbund datebase you can only find two(!) soldiers named Klüs (Klues) who died in WWII:

            1) Klues, Clems, Soldat, * 3 June 1906 in Wettrup + 4 March 1945 in the Görlitz area. His grave is on the cemetery in Königshain/ near Görlitz/Schlosspark.

            2) Klues, Heinrich, Obergefreiter, * 29 June 1914 in Plantlünne + 21 Jan 1943 in Africa. His grave is on the cemetery in Tobruk/Libya (Africa).

These two are the only Klüs (Klues) in the datebase.

In the recent German phonebook you will find the name Klüs (Klues) about 25 times.

            Gerdan
