    Help needed on markings on Luft. dagger

    I'm hoping someone here can decifer some markings on a first model Luftwaffe dagger that I just recently purchased. The markings are...FL. St. FEA. 23. 5...there is another marking of ...STAB 5 on another part. Any help or even best guesses would be appreciated. Thanks

    It makes it difficult without a photo of the Dolch to examine, but FEA is the abbreviation for Feldersatzabteilung. Unfortunately, the Luftwaffe didn't have any of these. However, I think someone took some liberties with the abbreviation and this is actually FLEA 23. Flieger-Ersatz-Abteilung 23 was located in Kaufbeuren, and in April 1939 it was upsized and the name changed to Flieger-Ausbildungs-Rgt. 23. "Stab 5" probably means Stab/5.Kp. of FLEA 23. "FL." is probably an abbreviation for Flieger, and "St." can mean either Staffel or Stab in this case. But without a photo it's hard to say.

      I appreciate the assistance and it gives me a direction to go. I will try and post a photo but the dagger is rough and heavily tarnished and I prefer to leave it as I get it.
