Info on German units

[Westmark]

Please help with any sites or information that may help me reference my wife's grandfather's army units. Here are those units with dates: He was assigned to Third Geb. Jag. Ers. Rgt. 136 on June 18, 1942, Second Komp. Inf. Ers. Batl. 37 July 28, 1942 to August 10, 1942 with the last notation to Feld Ers. Batl. 71/3 with out dates. He went missing January 6, 1943 with the 6th army at Stalingrad. This information is from the German Wast, they even sent an original photo of him with this information. Thanks for any help.

Gebirgs-Jäger-Regiment 136



Aufgestellt am 1. August 1938 aus den Tiroler Jäger-Regiment des österreichischen Bundesheeres in Innsbruck, das III. Bataillon in Landeck, ein II. Bataillon bestand nicht. Das Regiment unterstand der 2. Gebirgs-Division. Das II./Gebirgs-Jäger-Regiment 140 wurde als neues II. Bataillon zugeteildt und am 1. April 1940 in II./Gebirgs-Jäger-Regiment 136 umbenannt.



Ersatztruppenteil war das I. Bataillon des Gebirgsjäger-Ersatz-Regiment 136, später Reserve-Gebirgsjäger-Regiment 136.
