Afrika Korps?

Just got this photo and would like if somebody could add to the Companies history.

As you can see they wear Tropical Hats, but are they Afrika Korps? They are not wearing any "Ärmelband ". Also the nature does not look like typical North Africa.

It is stabskompanie of panzer regiment 8.

Notice the wolfsangel rune that represents panzer regiment 8.

This photo was taken Easter 1941 just before the unit embarked for Afrika.
That is why they are issued with full tropical uniform but are still in Europe.

Great photo. Another interesting feature is that they are ALL issued with captured Dutch pith helms with Heer DAK insignia.

Perhaps you might please post thios photo in the Achtung Panzer formum (paner uniforms in afrika). I think the watchers there would really enjoy it.

Splendid photo! Milcollector is correct. Photo is taken just before deployment to Afrika, all wearing first pattern tropical tunics and Dutch made pith helmets, except for two soldats that appear to have the first pattern German made Tropenhelms (4th in from left, 2nd row & third row).
Hille76 and Michael Pruett confirmed these Dutch pith helmets were issued to elements of 15th Pz Div DAK before deployment to Afrika on the thread "Pz uniform in Afrika".

This is HQ Co from 2nd Bn, 8th Pz Regt, 15th Pz Div, DAK,
though no one yet has attached tk's onto their tropical tunic's...interesting, unlike most of the individual photos we have seen of this time period before deployment when members are displaying the tk's on their tropical tunics.... perhaps this unit photo is taken just after being issued tropical kit.

I agree this photo should also be posted in that wonderful collection of photos you and others have posted on thread in Pz forum, panzer uniform in afrika...
